AbstractThe disadvantageous dynamic load characteristic is one of the main reasons causing transient voltage stability. However, for transient voltage stability assessment, most methods still lack effectiveness in evaluating the status of each load bus. In view of third-order induction motor load model, an analytical method for assessing the transient voltage stability on each load bus is presented. In this method, the load bus with the outside system is equivalent to a simplified system with two buses, and the critical clearing time of each load bus can be analytically calculated with this simplified system. The obtained critical clearing time can be treated as an index to assess the transient voltage stability status of each load bus, thus can provide the useful information for dynamic security assessment. The simulation results of a multi-bus power system verify the effectiveness of the stated method. This work is supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 50407001, 50595413).
