Cancer is a complex disease due to its heterogenous nature and multiple cross talk in the cancer regulatory pathways. Treatment outcome of monotherapy is unsatisfactory and drug resistance is common, a holistic intervention strategy is needed. My research focuses on: 1) To investigate cancer drug resistance mechanism using multi-omics technologies. 2) To identify cancer biomarkers to predict targeted therapy and immunotherapy response. 3) To discover novel small molecules and herbal medicines that can tackle cancer drug resistance.
Our goal is to provide better understanding on cancer resistance mechanisms and identify cancer markers and targets to improve treatment outcome.
Dr. Elaine Leung is currently Professor at the Faculty of Health Science, University of Macau.
